Taking on new jobs in Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Hampshire and Surrey

Platypus Construction Ltd

A trusted team of general builders. Extensions and loft conversions, kitchens and bathrooms, garden rooms and patios, plus the steelwork, brickwork and groundwork that holds it all up.

Why a platypus?

Because it refuses to fit one category and thrives anyway. We work the same way: versatile, adaptable and with a creative, problem-solving mindset. No challenge too complex, no project too unconventional.

Where we work

Based in Oxfordshire. Recent jobs in Finstock, Fyfield, Kidlington, Marston, Goring & Streatley and Oxford, plus a garden in Balham, London.

No shortcuts.
Just quality.

From tired to top-tier.

Balham, London

A garden rebuilt in London yellow brick and Quorn stone

A brand-new London yellow brick wall, sleek Quorn Stone patio slabs and a bespoke BBQ area, built up from the groundwork. The client has already been making the most of the sunshine with a BBQ in their upgraded space.

Heath really listened to how we wanted to use the space. The new flower bed, yellow brick wall, and real stone patio work perfectly with our bbq.

Client, Balham
The finished garden: a raised planter in London yellow brick, slatted timber fencing, a barbecue in a brick surround and a sandstone-toned patio with outdoor dining furniture. The same garden before: a stone wall, fresh concrete foundations for the new brickwork and bare earth.
Freshly laid London yellow brick walls and a corner barbecue structure with stone worktop shelves.

The finished outbuilding: vertical timber cladding, chunky square posts and a clear corrugated roof, with two bikes parked beneath. The same outbuilding before: rendered walls, exposed roof battens, a patio door and tools leaning against the wall.

Kidlington, Oxfordshire

From run-down outbuilding to full garden upgrade

Chunky 6″ posts, robust cladding and a waterproof roof turned a tired outbuilding into a solid, practical space for bike storage and outdoor living.

The details matter.

Ensuites, brickwork, insulation, paving: the parts you only notice when they’ve been done properly.

Messages from clients, as shared on Platypus’s Instagram.

Heath and the team were excellent from start to finish with our steel installation. Everything was well organised, fitted perfectly, and finished to a really high standard.

They made what could have been a stressful part of the build feel straightforward. I’d happily recommend Platypus to anyone needing structural steelwork.
